HB 274 Call to Action

Dear MTABA members,

Please consider supporting HB 274, ABA for families when children are at risk of abuse or neglect. The public hearing by Human Services is this February 4, Thursday at 3pm. Please reach out to committee members as soon as possible to let them know ABA for children at risk of abuse or neglect is important. The bill supports access to ABA services by children at risk of abuse and neglect or who have experienced abuse and neglect. Below is an example of language you can use in your email to the legislators. Below you will also see the names of the legislators and their contact information and instructions for how to upload your testimony in favor of the bill.

Dear Human Service Committee,

My name is XXX and I am a XXXXXXXXXXXXXXX. I am writing you today to ask you to give a due pass for HB 274. Applied Behavior Analysis(ABA) is applicable to child welfare and numerous studies exist supporting its applications.  This includes traditional practices as well as those based in ABA principles such as certain cognitive behavior approaches and parent training programs. While ABA is best known for its application in the field of developmental disabilities and in particular autism, it is not restricted to this field.  ABA is based on the principles of human behavior and is applicable to any setting in which a person seeks to change behavior.
