Title: Organizing and utilizing a data-based decision-making protocol with direct care staff
Presenter: Adam Warman, MS, BCBA, LBA, Vice President of Program Development at The Faison Center
Abstract: The collection and utilization of client performance data are part and parcel of evidence-based
behavior analytic services. In many cases, the person making the final clinical decision for any given
intervention/instructional program is not the person collecting the data. This leads to the quandary of
how to systematize a process wherein the person collecting the data can communicate necessary
decision-making information to the lead clinician. In this presentation, one systemic solution to this (and
other) problems will be discussed.
Learning goals:
1. Participants will identify what information is vital to their decision-making process in their
professional practice.
2. Participants will identify solutions to common problems that arise when technician level
instructors are responsible for collecting and visually presenting performance data.
3. Participants will determine strategies to set motivating operations for all clinical staff to adhere
to procedural integrity and pacing guidance.
4. Participants will examine the importance of timely treatment plan changes and brief latency
between client performance and data-based decisions.
